Irish Fairy Cards ~ For Inspiration & Guidance
© 1997 Jaya Moran

In the Irish Fairy deck, Jaya Moran, the author combines her interests in the Fairy folk with her love for her western Ireland home.  The 64 cards of this deck are based on the wisdom and spirituality of the fairies.  These cards highlight the joy and playfulness of these little beings from the fairy realm.

Each card presents an image surrounded by a border of shamrocks.  The number of the card is shown at the top with the keyword meaning at the bottom of the border.  The cards are coated with a matte finish which reduces glare and makes them less likely to stick together . . . and makes shuffling a breeze, too.

The Irish Fairy deck comes as a set with the boot entitled, "Irish Fairy Cards for Inspiration & Guidance."  In the book, Moran describes each fairy scene and it's meaning and message with a poem of inspiration for each card.  Jay Moran is both author and illustrator for this special fairy deck.

This is a delightful oracle system for inspiration and guidance.  The art is simple, but colorful.  The book includes some layouts recommended for this set, but the cards work well in a large variety of spreads, including Tarot spreads.  Thus, this is a versatile deck, limited only to one's imagination for creative uses.

This system of inspiration and guidance could be called "simple," perhaps because it doesn't work along the same lines of divination as much as Tarot does.  It's a deck that helps you discover what aspects of your personal joy need to be brought out in any given situation.  It helps with one's attitudes and perspectives more so than offering any defined outcomes to a situation -- other than in terms of an outcome concerning how one feels about something and the emotions he or she can expect with a potential result.

As with any card set, one can make the decision to use reversals or not to use them.  After reviewing this deck, I feel it's one that works well without employing reversals -- and that's rare for me, as a card reader who believes in allowing for reversals in a spread.  But there are a few decks for wish I do not use reversed cards . . . and this is one of them.  I think the card descriptions within themselves along with the position in the reading and the seeker's question will guide one in the proper direction.  The cards show whether change is needed or if things are properly progressing.

Overall, this is a simple yet insightful deck with attractive coloring and inspiring messages.

This deck and book has gone out of print at some point, so it may be hard to find copies of the Irish Fairy Cards, however, Amazon sellers and eBay are good sources to check if you are interested in obtaining these fairy cards and book.
